Getaria to Zumaia to Deba

Getaria, a beautiful spot with amazing views of ocean, mountains and surfers, and also stormy wet weather. We began our walk today in the aftermath of a rainy night. Still drizzly and cold in the morning, by lunchtime it was warm and pleasant. Trekking from Zumaia to Deba, our journey took us through gorgeous scenic countryside with spectacular views of the ocean as a backdrop in some areas while others were farm houses on the crest of hills rolling into the sea. All one can say is, ‘oh wow!’ There were so many spots along this walk, places that I would have bought in a heartbeat because it was so beautiful. The weather being pleasant today made the trek seem not as challenging. Yes, there are steep ups and downs but at least we weren’t suffering in humidity. Part way through our walk we met up with Sol on the camino who had prepared a fantastic lunch of salads, wine, cheese, fish and of course, dessert! At the end of the day, waiting for our ride in Deba, we were plum tuckered out. Spain is a fascinating land both in people and landscape. It takes the breath away and calls one back once you have left. There are only a couple more days of this journey then Spain shall be missed once again.
