Beginning our great Canadian/US road trip we headed out yesterday the 11th of October shortly after sunrise which began our expedition eastward. Crossing the border into Saskatchewan we made our way to the Red Coat Trail, a 1,300 km (810 mi) route that approximates the path taken in 1874 by the North-West Mounted Police in their quest to bring law and order to the Canadian West. One would think the prairies just a boring sight of field after field of grain. Quite the contrary as there were a lot of photo ops along the way before we reached our first nights destination of Assiniboia. Our second day found us driving the long stretch under blue skies with the occasional windy walk for a brief respite and voilà, we are in Winnipeg, Manitoba for the night.
Bon Voyage, Diane and Rick. Wishing you a safe journey and the joy of discovery.
Nice that the province of Saskatchewan gave you some room to pull over and take a picture of their welcome sign. Alberta and BC rarely do the same and I have often wished while traveling into or from BC on Hwy 93 that I could pull over and take a picture of the BC or Alberta welcome signs.
Love the picture of the old house. I always like to imagine the time when an old house like this was once new and some family was proud to live in it.

Hi Salvador & Marta! There were many graveyards on the drive but we don’t know anyone who was buried there. It was just a nice place to stop, take some photos and let the dog run.
